New Year = New Goal

I know. I know. It’s time for that New Year New Me bullshit. (Oh yeah. I curse. Get over.) It is time to make your New Year’s Resolutions. We all know that we can make goals or resolutions at any point but most of us will be making new resolutions this weekend. Will we keep them through the year or will we forget we made them in two weeks?

I’m not just making resolutions because it is the New Year but also because the house is finally set up which allows me to focus on something other than unpacking and washing everything. And this year will be my year. I have many goals I want to achieve and I will update y’all with how they are going. I have goals for the different parts of my life- creative pursuits, professional, personal, and family.

CREATIVE PURSUITS:

-Write at least 200,000 words either through blogging or working on one of my stories

-I want to complete at least one draft of one of my stories.

-I want to read or listen to 25 books by the end of the year.

PROFESSIONAL

-Launch Paranormal Housewife Podcast

-Start a candle and jewelry business

FAMILY

-Take professional photos at least twice this year

-Take up a hobby we can do together

PERSONAL

-I want to hit my goal of 180lbs.

-I want to learn how to run a mile.

-I want to write in my journal at least 3 nights a week.

-I want to read the Quran.

-I want to get a part-time job

That is a lot of goals. But I think they are achievable. I plan on focusing on two goals a month to achieve them. Some of these are pretty self-explanatory. Others I should probably explain a bit. The first one I should explain is the Paranormal Housewife Podcast. I know I have been focusing on this blog lately but I do miss the paranormal blog. For the past year or so, quite a few of my followers for Paranormal Housewife have recommended that I start a podcast to go along with the blog. I have actually been looking into it and I want to start the podcast this year. I am still trying to figure out a few things but hopefully by this spring. What topics do you hope I cover in the podcast?

I have three different stories that I have been working on for the past few years. When I am not blogging, I will work on the stories. I need to hunker down and focus on at least one of them. One is a fictional ghost story, one is about a crime that happened in Illinois back in the 70s, and the third one is another fictional story. I don’t know which one I would focus on but I would really love to have a finished draft finally done for one of them.

Reading is one of my passions even if I don’t get to do it every day. This year I managed to read 21 books so far. Okay, some of them I listened to on Audible but I still count them as books read because it’s easier to listen to a book while cleaning or driving. I think 25 books is a fair goal for 2022.

The part-time job is because life in San Diego is expensive. Plus I still need to pay off Bagheera’s vet bills and with me losing weight, I need new clothes. I have plenty of T-shirts and leggings to last me for a bit but I need some new dresses and nice clothes. I don’t want to work full time because I do like being a housewife. I also like being available when Jeremy gets off work early to go do something fun. I have already started looking for a job and have been on a few interviews. I will update you when I have a job. I never had a problem finding a job before and I don’t think it will be hard to find one now. To help bring in more money, I do want to start my candle and jewelry business. Most likely I will sell my items at vendor events or street markets but I need to find out when and where those take place.

My health goals are fairly straightforward. I am about 80 pounds until I hit my goal weight. I think I should be able to hit my goal weight by the end of 2022. Now that I am down 80 pounds from my heaviest weight, I want to learn how to run. I really want to learn how to run a mile. I need to prepare for the zombie apocalypse that is probably going to happen soon. Granted I probably should have learned to do this in flat Illinois and not hot, hilly California but I will learn how to do this.

This year, I had the goal to read the bible in its entirety. I managed to finish the bible early last week. It really opened my eyes to the Christian religion. The bible is very different than what I was taught in Sunday school and in church services. Like the part where God forgot about Noah and his family while the flood happened and left them for longer than he promised he would. In 2022, I want to read the Quran and learn more about the Muslim faith. I am not looking to convert but instead, I want to have a better understanding of their faith because I really don’t know that much about Islam. I am trying to find someone to read with me so I can ask questions and have a better understanding of what I am reading. I reached out to a local Islamic center but I haven’t heard back from them yet.

I know with all of these goals, I will be really busy but I like being busy. It keeps me from being bored. What goals do you have for 2022? Do you have any big goals planned? Let me know in the comments below. I hope 2022 is better than the last few years have been.
