Beware What Stalks You In The Swamp

I find inspiration for these posts from a variety of different places. Some are topics I have grown up hearing about. Some are suggested by y’all. Some are things that I come across while researching other topics. And then sometimes I get inspiration from television shows which is how one of today’s topic came about. I didn’t know about the first creature until I was watching the television show, Supernatural (yes this is still my favorite television show). In season four, episode four a rougarou was mentioned. As soon as I heard the word, I was intrigued. Since then I have been trying to learn more about this interesting urban legend. Researching the rougarou lead me to learning about the second topic of today’s post, the Honey Island Swamp Monster. Continue reading Beware What Stalks You In The Swamp

The Hauntings Here May Be A Family Affair

This location in Nashua, New Hampshire was an interesting topic to research. It was also a hard topic to research because so much of what I was reading I couldn’t tell what was urban legend and what was history. No matter what seems to be the truth versus local legend, the activity at Gilson Road Cemetery is definitely interesting and seems fairly active.  Continue reading The Hauntings Here May Be A Family Affair

Table For 100 Spirits, Please!

When I was looking for suggestions this week’s locations, I had a few people mention this restaurant. The more I looked into it, the more intrigued I became by it. The amount of activity that happens here and the amount of spirits that seem to wander through easily explains why this restaurant is considered to be Utah’s most haunted restaurant. I also love the family history associated with the Leslie’s Family Tree Restaurant.  Continue reading Table For 100 Spirits, Please!

What Lurks Beneath The Surface?

One of the things that draws me so much to Oregon is the natural beauty that can be found through out the state. There are so many places to go hiking, canoeing, and camping. One of the places that I have been wanting to go check out is an ominously named lake called Devil’s Lake. While it’s stunningly beautiful is all the beauty actually hiding a monster?  Continue reading What Lurks Beneath The Surface?

Where Did Everyone Go?

Shortly after Jeremy and I moved to Illinois, I had joined a few Meetup.com groups to make some new friends. One group I joined was a group of older adults that would meet weekly for trivia nights. I LOVE trivia games. I know a lot of useless and random facts which are useful for trivia games. The first time I met up with this group, they were doing a trivia game at a local pizzeria. The members of the group were amazing with the answers throughout the entire game until the final question. Continue reading Where Did Everyone Go?

Beware What Stalks The Woods…

It seems like everywhere I turn lately (especially places like TikTok and Facebook), someone is talking about Wendigo or Skinwalkers. While similar and often confused to be the same thing, they are actually two different Native American folklore. I will devote a post diving into what a Skinwalker for a later date. Today’s post is all about Wendigoes and their lore. Mainly because Jeremy and I may have encountered one a few weeks ago.  Continue reading Beware What Stalks The Woods…

Not Always A Happy Ending In This Forest

Fairytales seem to be full of princesses, witches, magic, and castles. While most present day fairytales seem to have happy endings, the original stories are much darker and with messages other than a girl needs just needs Prince Charming’s kiss to make everything alright. The stories that originate in the forests in today’s post are so much darker than Disney would ever want to go. Continue reading Not Always A Happy Ending In This Forest
